Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Ontario is a provincial association, committed to improving services and support for individuals with mental illnesses and addictions issues, and to promoting mental health in Ontario.


We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Justice Policy Department to support the work of the Provincial Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee (P-HSJCC).

This position is located in Toronto, Ontario.

Reporting to the Director, Justice Policy at CMHA Ontario, this position will work closely with the HSJCC Secretariat Team, the P-HSJCC Co-Chairs and the P-HSJCC Executive Committee to provide overall project management for all activities of the Provincial HSJCC.


Core Responsibilities

The Project Manager is responsible for:

  • Working closely with members of the HSJCC Network to achieve project objectives and ensuring alignment with key Government priorities.
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing proposals, business cases, and project charters
  • Developing and maintaining updated work plans, facilitating regularly scheduled project meetings, managing budgets as required and managing project timelines.
  • Leading special projects and initiatives including defining the issues, developing a proposal, carrying out research and analysis, and developing options and recommendations for implementation
  • Working with teams to implement projects, measure and evaluate frameworks and processes.
  • Preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborating with key partners including but not limited to Local and Regional HSJCCs and their member organizations, local CMHA Branches, people with lived experience and key Government Ministries.

Note:

There are no direct reports to this position, however, the Project Manager will assume a management role within the Secretariat team and provide oversight on all aspects of project work.

Skills & Experience

  • Graduate degree in public policy, social work, health promotion or a related field; PMP designation is an asset.
  • 35 years experience in policy analysis, health services research or health system development required.
  • Working knowledge of the criminal justice sector and the intersections between the justice and mental health systems, specifically issues relating housing, homelessness, income, employment, and workplace mental health required.
  • Familiarity with key concepts of mental health promotion, health equity and social determinants of health required.
  • Familiarity with the _Criminal Code of Canada_ and _Youth Criminal Justice Act_ an asset.
  • Experience working in multisectoral partnerships and liaising with nongovernmental organizations and government agencies and knowledge of the public policy environment in Ontario required.
  • Experience managing projects and managing multiple tasks within established timelines in a team environment required.
  • Work experience in the community sector is an asset.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, Temporary Special Funded contact position working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). This position is based in Toronto, Ontario and may require travel.

We are currently operating within a hybrid model, with colleagues working from the office 3 days/week and from home 2 days/week.


This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone interaction, and working at the computer.

This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling.

Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.

This position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
