Entegrus Powerlines, a progressive company dedicated to providing the highest level of service and a positive work environment, requires a Locator for its St.

Thomas office.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Field Services & Locates, this position is responsible for accurately identifying and locating underground electrical plant for crews, customers, internal and external contractors.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately perform cable locates to ensure the safety of the public and contractors while maintaining the integrity of the system and exercising good judgement;
  • Record locate findings accurately for use by the Company, customers and others;
  • Maintain good customer and public relations while working independently, balancing workload and consistently meeting deadlines;
  • Search, retrieve and interpret data from GIS and report any anomalies to the GIS Department;
  • Ensure that the Occupational Health & Safety Act, IHSA rulebook, corporate policies and procedures are followed;
  • Conduct streetlight inventory counts and streetlight patrols;
  • Conduct physical verification of plant and equipment, as recorded in GIS;
  • Conduct Joint Use attachment physical verification in accordance with Joint Use Agreements;
  • Deliver Company communications to customers with respect to planned vegetation management projects and assisting customers with special requests with respect to activities and/or timing; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: A minimum of one year of job-related experience in the industry is preferred.

Knowledge:Must have a working knowledge of IHSA rulebook, OHSA Regulations for Industrial and Construction Projects and Book 7 (traffic control). Solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and experience with a digital drawing tool

Skills: Must have strong organizational and interacting skills including records management; demonstrable written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Other: Must have a good understanding of the electrical distribution business. Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.


The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual with the demonstrated ability to work as a team player and be safety focused.

This position is a full-time union position based on the IBEW Collective Agreement. Current hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The successful applicant must be physically able and willing to perform all tasks associated with work in all outdoor elements.

Must be able and willing to assist with after-hours emergencies as required, including the ability to be at the scene of the call within 60 minutes from the receipt of the call.
