JOB DESCRIPTION
The Environmental Services Attendant (ESA) is responsible for ensuring a constant state of cleanliness in
patient, staff and public areas. The duties of the attendants may vary according to the area of the hospital in
which they work.


QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 Graduate or equivalent required
Ability to clean the physical environment
Ability to push/pull carts (1.5 kg to 10 kg force)
May require the ability to lift 18 kg
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
Must demonstrate ability to respond to all Codes (Red, White, etc)
Completion of the Ontario Health Care Housekeepers Association Environmental Services Course for

Front Line Staff an asset

Must be able to work with mínimal supervision
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required
Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins
Good attendance and work record required
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients volunteers

and visitors

Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this
organization

Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a requirement

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique health care organization with three primary roles:
providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral

centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it's the specialized mental health

service provider serving all of northeast Ontario. At more than 400 beds, our state-of-the-art regional health

centre has over 150 physicians, 2300 employees and 250 volunteers.
