    Position Summary

    Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital.

    Reporting to the Head Nurse, General Medicine Unit, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the Massett Hospital mission statement.

    The role is defined by the needs of the Hospital, a select patient/family population, agency expectation and the standards of professional nursing practice.

    Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, rotating Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital in located in Masset and is a four acute care bed hospital with one palliative care bed, four long term care beds and a four unit assisted living complex. They offer emergency, lab, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, home and community care services, primary care mental health and substance use, services, chronic disease management, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy. Visiting specialists includes Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Respirology, Rheumatology, Urology and Ophthalmology. Masset is a small fishing village located on Graham Island with a population of approximately 793 local residents and servicing a surrounding population of 2300.     • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant

    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to promote safe, competent, patient care.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team.
    • Ability to communicate and maintain good public relations with family and friends of patients.
    • Ability to recognize and intervene appropriately in an emergency situation.
