    About this opportunity:

    The Senior Staff Process Safety Engineer position will develop, introduce and maintain a line of defense level 2 (LOD 2) assurance program. The program is needed for management to be assured that Process Safety components as implemented in the Cenovus Operations Integrity System (COIMS) are functioning as intended. This assurance program, and the associated technical requirements, is necessary to meet the business requirement of handling increased risk in downstream and growing upstream operations. An advanced expert is critical to ensure alignment with corporate stakeholder and board expectations.

    What you'll do:

    • Establishing the Process Safety Assurance program as part of Cenovus' operations integrity management system.
    • Designing & Implementing the assurance program to support assurance of critical safety risks across the business.
    • Integrating the program across multiple subject areas, evaluating resource requirements and working in partnership with the business to deliver both value and meet governance requirements.
    • Leveraging technical expertise to share best practices and educate engineers and operations professionals in applying risk management principles.
    • Working in harmony with safety leadership programs to drive process safety competency and knowledge.
    • Enabling project delivery teams to progress safer technology and proactively anticipate process safety concerns through collaborative assurance of project management processes.
    • Maintaining subject matter expertise in human performance and leveraging the latest research to improve process safety performance and safety culture.

    Who you are:

    • BSc. Engineering, Master's degree considered advantageous.
    • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered for practice in Alberta, at minimum.
    • 20 years experience comprising operations, safety, leadership, and process safety engineering experience, including assurance skills.
    • Owner operator experience within the oil and gas industry is advantageous.
