    AECOM Buildings + Places (B+P) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This opportunity could be based out of either our Ottawa or Montreal offices, with opportunities for hybrid work.

    AECOM B+P Canada is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • A key member of the mechanical design team responsible for design and construction of various facilities, including occasional out-of-town travel;
    • Provide conceptual design at the early stages of the project and develop the concept to high quality detailed design, co-ordinate with all disciplines;
    • Design HVAC, Controls, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems;
    • Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs (i.e. Carrier HAP);
    • Perform calculations, conduct design drawing reviews, and field investigations;
    • Ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and client standards;
    • Write/ edit mechanical specifications;
    • Travel to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports;
    • Participate in business development and writing proposals.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at a very minimum, six (6) + years of experience in the Buildings Engineering Industry. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or Quebec

    Preferred Requirements:

    • 6-10 years of experience in the Buildings Engineering industry
    • Strong Consulting Industry background in Canada
    • In-depth design knowledge in Plumbing and Fire Protection systems, HVAC, hydronic systems, controls
    • Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing
    • Working knowledge of the LEED rating system, or other green rating systems;
    • Proficient in Revit
    • Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical audience
    • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
