TOM Capital Management Inc. is looking for legal counsel in Calgary.

What the TOM Lawyers do:

The TOM legal team is a small group that provides a broad range of legal services to TOM and its investee businesses including transactional, operational and structural work.

TOM lawyers know the TOM businesses intimately, seamlessly integrate with them, and provide tailored expertise.

Build and oversee systems in TOM's businesses to standardize and streamline legal and related administrative processes.

Play a broader role than one that is strictly legal - TOM lawyers are involved with our clients' business judgement, and help to manage investment risk for TOM and its investee businesses.

Work with experts from leading firms where necessary.


Who/What we are looking for:

Additional experience and expertise in commercial litigation, employment law matters and insolvency would be considered an asset.

Strong drafting and negotiation skills.

Ability to run legal files from start to finish with mínimal supervision.

A highly detail-oriented individual with exceptional problem-solving skills who has actively demonstrated a high degree of discretion and integrity.

A commercial minded practical problem solver with an aptitude for critical analysis, risk assessment, creative thinking, understanding, judgment and execution, not just in law.

Somebody who is adaptable, eager to learn and highly coachable.

Any experience outside the practice of law through a prior career in business that relates to the TOM businesses or the qualities outlined here may be helpful.

A member of the Law Society of Alberta in good standing, or another Canadian province with the ability to be called to the bar here in Alberta.
