    This is a newly created position based in Calgary, AB.

    With the recent acquisition of ZyTech Building Systems LP, Dick's Lumber has solidified its position as a leader in lumber, truss, door, and modular wall manufacturing and distribution in Western Canada.

    THE ROLE This newly created Vice President of Finance position with Dick's Lumber represents an extraordinary opportunity to lead a key department within this dynamic, growth-oriented organization.

    In this role, the VP of Finance will strategically support and further develop the direction of the company's core finance & accounting department(s), with additional oversight of; treasury, insurance, and M&A activity from a finance vantage.

    As the company evolves, it seeks a visionary leader who can seamlessly integrate financial strategies with broader business objectives.

    The Vice President of Finance reports to the President of Dick's Lumber, acting as a key business partner to shape and execute the financial strategy of the business.

    This position is not only responsible for overseeing financial operations, but is also tasked with supporting and driving strategic decisions that will support and fuel the company's growth.

    The VP of Finance will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, steering the integration of future M&A transactions and ensuring that financial considerations align with the company's ambitious expansion plans.

    In addition to core responsibilities of managing accounting, finance, treasury, and credit functions, the VP of Finance needs to be a business-facing leader.

    This means actively engaging with stakeholders across the organization to understand their needs and challenges, and translating financial insights into actionable strategies that drive growth and innovation.

    This role demands a leader with exceptional abilities in monitoring, allocating, and controlling finances on a large scale. The VP of Finance must possess outstanding communication skills to effectively convey complex financial information to diverse audiences. Strong leadership qualities are essential for inspiring and guiding teams towards achieving collective goals. RESPONSIBILITIES
    Provide strategic management of the accounting, finance, treasury and credit functions
    Directs and monitors accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
    Recommends improvements to ensure the integrity of financial information
    Develops and adapts systems and reporting for the business
    Handles negotiations for mergers, acquisitions, and the establishment and integration of new divisions within the business.
    Manages the relationship with independent auditors
    Oversees financial systems, implementations, and upgrades
    Manages relationships with investors and investment institutions
    Identifies and manage business risks and insurance requirements
    Hires, trains and retains skilled accounting, finance, and credit staff

    As Dick's Lumber continues its pattern of strategic growth in the markets they serve, they require a candidate with a proven track record of success and transformation within a financial leadership role.

    Experience in managing M&A transactions and integrations will be particularly valuable as they pursue strategic expansion opportunities.


    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    ~10+ years of leadership within a company's financial department
    ~ CPA Accredited (Mandatory)
    ~ Undergraduate degree in business, accounting or a closely related discipline
    ~ MBA an asset
    ~ Proven experience working with M&A transactions and integrations
