Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical and field support for the operation and maintenance of ITS hardware, software and technology infrastructure within the Branch in accordance with regulations.
- Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs equipment and responds to emergency maintenance calls.
- Collects field data from various locations and facilities within the Transit infrastructure to support software.
- Supports equipment operating data and configuration; investigates, updates, tests and deploys configurations.
- Support governance security and compliance reviews.
- Assists in the evaluation of software.
- Monitors network communications between TMS and Regional IT infrastructure.
- Coordinates problem resolution processes with internal/external stakeholders and escalates as needed.
- Identifies issues and consults with stakeholders to develop options and implement solutions.
- Works with end users to perform data quality checks; reviews and evaluates the results of program and systems testing with stakeholders.
- Identifies data collected by ITS systems; monitors for issues and assists with/implements resolutions.
- Maintains problem and change logs.
- Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate.
- Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
- Ensures services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years demonstrated experience in resolving technical problems, including project implementation and support, network configuration, installation, upgrades and end user support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems development processes using databases and programming languages.
- Knowledge of transit and/or transportation industries.
- Sound knowledge of project management techniques, task estimation, scheduling and control.
- Knowledge of system development life cycle, including trends in the use of current information technology specific to Transit Management Systems and business processes.
- Ability to be on call during weekends and statutory holidays, as required.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" drivers license and free of any serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
- Ability to work shift work and outside of regular business hours, as required.
