SUMMARY


As part of Holland Bloorview, you will be contributing to fulfill the strategic plan and priorities of the organization, which includes creating the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families.

This will be achieved in an academic health sciences centre, with a focus on client and family centred, high quality and safe care, and a commitment to research, teaching, and advancing best practices in pediatric rehabilitation.


In this role, you will be instrumental in helping to provide the leadership, vision and guidance required by our health disciplines staff to allow them to develop the knowledge and skills required to achieve the highest standard of pediatric rehabilitation in Canada.

You will lead practice change through effective and innovative strategies and partnership, monitor outcomes and seek opportunities for funding to support priority projects.


The incumbent is an influential clinical leader with a passion and commitment to advance professional and interprofessional practice with a strong focus on supporting those professions with a psychosocial focus, such as social work, psychology, and others.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Practice Enhancement

  • Supports the Senior Director of Collaborative Practice and the Collaborative Practice team in creating, articulating and sustaining an organization wide vision for Collaborative Practice that emphasizes highest quality, client/family centred care
  • Provides leadership to specific practice initiatives such as Schwartz Rounds for Compassionate Care and our Child and Youth Mental Health strategy
  • Promotes, advances and integrates clinical best practices, evidencebased practice and quality improvement within the professional health disciplines and across service programs
  • Ensures the professional standards of practice and standards of care of the health disciplines are developed, disseminated and sustained across Holland Bloorview
  • Supports operations in the equitable recruitment, hiring and performance management of health professionals

Interprofessional Practice

  • Leads the development and systematic updating of relevant evidencebased standards of care, policies and medical directives
  • Supports strong interprofessional collaboration through the development of structures, processes and mechanisms that support positive client and family outcomes
  • Models interprofessional collaboration and a commitment to client and family partnerships
  • Leads interprofessional organizational change initiatives and projects

Professionalism

  • Supports professional development of health professions staff including orientation, mentorship, career development, and clinical and academic leadership
  • Enhances professionspecific and interprofessional peer support, mentorship, and consultation
  • Promotes and facilitates professional development and ongoing learning within the health disciplines
  • Leads/facilitates monthly Practice Council meetings

Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensures clinical practice is delivered in accordance with legislated requirements and hospital quality standards
  • Develops strategic relationships with information systems and technology partners for key informatics and technology efforts, ensuring clinical practice needs and regulatory requirements are understood and addressed
  • Monitors Ontario regulations and legislation directives, changes and updates and supports implementation of required changes

Academic practice

  • Enhances academic relationships with the University of Toronto and Acute Care partners both within and beyond Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN).
  • Represents Holland Bloorview's interprofessional collaborative practice at local, national and international forums
  • Promotes an environment that supports clinical inquiry, quality improvement and research

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education/Experience:


  • Registrant in good standing with any professional regulatory college required
  • Masters in health related discipline/education required. PhD in health related discipline preferred
  • Professional disciplines with a psychosocial focus (such as social work, psychology) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience; preferably in a paediatric setting
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in leadership/management within a health care organization
  • Experience in adult education, program development, practice enhancement, evaluation and research
  • Experience in advancing interprofessional practice and collaborative care
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce and sustain evidencebased and academic practice
  • Eligibility for appointment with an academic institution
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation (e.g. Public Hospital Acts, Consent Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, privacy legislation etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare system and the health professions education/academic system
