We are seeking an energetic
Summer Art

Camp Coordinator to join our Summer Art Camp team.


Reporting to the Head of Education, the Summer Art Camp Coordinator plans, creates, schedules, and delivers a wide range of visual art and recreational activities to children and youth ages 6 to 12 at Oakville Galleries' Summer Art Camps.

The Summer Art Camp Coordinator will work on-site at Oakville Galleries' Gairloch Gardens location (1306 Lakeshore Road East) from

Monday to Friday (except holidays), 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ahead of camp operations, and Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm during summer camp operating hours.

They are a vital member of the Education team and serve as ambassadors of Oakville Galleries through their regular contact with members of the public.


General Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, and supervise Oakville Galleries Summer Art Camps in cooperation with the Head of Education that supports and reflects the Education Department's objectives, philosophies, and standards;
  • Prepare program outlines, daily activities and special events, program supplies, and additional programming requirements for camp staff;
  • Participate in camps daily; provide direction and ongoing coaching to enhance frontline staff artistic program knowledge, teaching techniques, and program planning skills;
  • Supervise camp staff and volunteers in coordination with the Head of Education, ensuring safety standards and established procedures are being followed;
  • Respond immediately and effectively to program and staff concerns;
  • Prepare and maintain accurate administrative records;
  • Provide exemplary customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants, staff, and volunteers;
  • Effectively and promptly communicate with the management concerning all aspects related to facilities, staffing, participants, equipment, supplies, or anything that would impact the quality and safe delivery of daytoday operations;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education and training in any of the following areas: Teaching, Arts
Administration, Art History, Dance, Drama, Music, Arts, or a related field;

  • 23 years of experience teaching and leading children and teens in a
    camp setting;
  • Experience developing lesson and activity plans as well as demonstrated interest in working with children;
  • A knowledge and understanding of a broad range of artistic techniques, practices, and materials;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change;
  • A customer serviceoriented mindset;
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiative
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle will be considered an asset;
  • Working proficiency in English (oral and written) is required. Proficiency Bilingualism in
French (English-French, emphasis on oral proficiency) or additional languages is considered an asset.
