    JOB SUMMARY

    The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.

    You are responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons using aquatic facilities. You monitor the conduct of patrons, prevent accidents and respond to emergencies by administering the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the City of Ottawa and of certifying bodies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of patrons in an aquatic environment.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum age of 15 years is required.

    High School Student - Grade 10 minimum

    No related experience is required

    Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certificates
    Current National Lifeguard - Pool Option

    CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificateAODA Accessibility/IASR TrainingCurrent Lifesaving Swim Instructor certificateCurrent Lifesaving Instructor certificate is an assetKNOWLEDGE

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

    • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
