Description

The Alberta Teachers' Association, as the professional organization of teachers, promotes and advances public education, safeguards standards of professional practice and serves as the advocate for its members.


Reporting to Team Lead, Business Solutions, the Project Manager provides project management structure and processes to ensure projects are delivered on time and within project budgets.

The Project Manager will develop project charters, status reports, cost estimates, status reports and closing reports as required.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure resources are available for allocation to projects, communicate time commitments and escalate any resource conflicts to the project sponsor as required
  • Provide regular status updates to project sponsor or steering committees and raise any issues or risks that need to be addressed as they arise
  • Develop schedules and milestones, forecast to note any obstacles in achieving project tasks on time
  • Provide cost estimates as required and track project progress against project budget.
  • Work with business analysts, team lead and project sponsor to gather business requirements, costs and scope
  • Prepare project charters or Statements of Work for each project to ensure project participants and sponsors agree on requirements, goals, costs and scope.
  • Ensure policies are followed for financial, contract, security and technical guidelines.
  • Follow PMBOK (Project Management Book of Knowledge) framework and/or Agile Project Management best practices to ensure structure and quality results are achieved.

Qualifications:


  • Certificate or diploma in a related field.
  • A certification in a recognized project management discipline (such as PMBOK or Agile) is an asset.
  • 2 years of relevant experience coordinating/leading projects successfully
  • Experience working in a technical environment, familiarity with IT terms and tools
  • M365/Office tools experience
  • Project Management tracking software experience
  • Experience working in a memberdriven association is an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and strategize.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight timelines.
  • Ability to work well as part of team, as a team lead and independently.
  • High level of critical analysis and sound judgment.

Salary:

This position offers a competitive starting salary of $72,274 to a maximum of $90,955 (after 5 years) plus a full range of employer-paid benefits.


Hours of Work:35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
At this time, the ATA does not currently have any work from home options.

Work Location:
Barnett House Street NW), Edmonton.
