Primary Objectives:

Safety Accountabilities:


  • Use/wear any protective equipment, devices or clothing required by Marks Supply i.e. steel toed shoes or boots, cut resistant gloves, safety glasses, respiratorsas applicable to the job
  • Report to your supervisor the absence of safety devices or any defect in any equipment/safety device that you are aware of, which could endanger yourself or others.
  • Report immediately to your supervisor: any contraventions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) or the Company Safety Policies, any accidents or incidents that occur, or the existence of any hazards you are aware of.
  • Operate any necessary machinery or equipment safely in accordance with the safety rules and procedures for that equipment.
  • Be aware of the common hazards in this position (following safety procedures and using caution): Ergonomic injuries, trips, slips, cuts, lifting incorrectly, hand/foot injuries, working on ladders
  • Keep up to date on the company Health & Safety Policies, follow the policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are met and exceeded as outlined in the OHSA and the Company Safety Manual

Other Key Accountabilities:


  • Service walk in traffic (customers) by entering their order into computer and suggesting (upsell) wherever possible
  • Organize customer orders for pick up at the counter
  • Process counter returns
  • Answer calls and service customers quickly and professionally, demonstrating thorough product and pricing knowledge
  • Handle special orders, requests, issues and/or concerns with enthusiasm and efficiency
  • Utilize product knowledge to recommend alternatives to customers if their initial request cannot be met; up sell whenever possible
  • Participate in pager duties and Saturday counter shifts as scheduled
  • Support outside sales staff with information regarding a customer's PO, product or pricing information as needed; working as a team to accomplish department and company objectives
  • Maintain daily the Call When Complete queue to ensure ontime delivery of required product
  • Work with shipping/receiving to ensure product is shipped and received as required
  • Communicate with Purchasing to ensure they are up to date with time requirements of orders, and alerting them of large orders that may deplete inventory
  • Assist warehouse with orderpicking, receiving, shipping or put away as needed
  • Assist with customer barbecue days
  • Participate in the yearly inventory count
  • Ensure that the Counter Zone is replenished daily
  • Participate in continuous product training to maintain thorough knowledge of the industry
  • Participate in counter promos, preparing showroom for counter days
  • Change over monthly specials, including pricing and displays
  • Conduct customer polling on various topics as applicable
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • 12 years plumbing and/or HVAC industry experience with demonstrated product knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers and customers
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple calls and complex orders with efficiency
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve both company and personal success
  • Ability to analyze the importance of situations and respond appropriately
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with high pressure for results
  • Physically agile in order to lift and move heavy and awkward items
