The Organization

New Circles Community Services is an innovative, community-based agency that provides clothing, employment training, and settlement support to newcomers, refugees, and other equity-deserving clients in Toronto. New Circles is continuously evolving to serve best those who need us. We are a small but mighty team working hard to provide services and programs that make an impact in the lives of those in our community.


The Role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Manager of our Gently Loved Outfits to Wear (GLOW) program in proactively developing a seasonal rhythm of clothing donations by reaching out to existing donors and new donors especially expanding our partnerships with clothing and shoe retailers
  • Support the Senior Manager in regularizing our partnerships with schools and as part of those partnerships, reactivate and project lead the "Prom" event a fun and glamourous opportunity for young women to find stylish dresses, shoes and makeup tips
  • Support the Senior Manager in developing strategies that make GLOW a more LGBTQ+ inclusive environment
  • Support the Senior Manager in expanding and marketing our "GLOW in Suits" program which provides full attire for jobseeking newcomers
  • Support the Fund Development team in the organization of an innovative alternative to the annual golf tournament
  • From August to December assemble a list of 125 equitydeserving GLOW families who qualify for the Holiday Angel Program that matches these families with financial donors individual, families, schools and businesses who purchase gift cards that address each family's unique needs
  • Other duties as assigned which may include "sorting" events on weekends or during the evening to deal with donation backlogs

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

  • A college diploma or undergraduate degree is mandatory
  • Additionally, certification plus 23 years experience in volunteer engagement/management
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit or social service agency
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • A collaborative team player; adaptable and able to take initiative
  • Must have high proficiency with computer and recordkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Evidence of writing ability/high proficiency in written English
  • Comfortable with conducting effective presentations
  • Strong time management skills
  • As well, a second language would be an asset (e.g., Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, Ukrainian)


These duties represent a 40-hour work week, 5 days a week Monday through Friday This is a one-year assignment with the potential for extension.


Salary:
$45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
