  • About the Role

    The Coordinator, Student Engagement participates in the implementation and development of programs and events that support a student's transition into the University and/or into graduate studies in order for them to achieve success both personally and academically. The programs and events will be centered around the use of the FHS Student Commons (SC), a new space FHS is opening up for undergraduate and graduate students. The space has areas for collaborative work, individual study, seminars and conferences and group meetings.

    The Coordinator coordinates programs and activities by liaising with both internal and external stakeholders such as Program Managers, Student Services staff, alumni and partner organizations, and student leaders to enhance student engagement both internally and externally, within the Faculty of Health Sciences and the community. In addition, the Coordinator provides support to the supervisor by researching, organizing, implementing and coordinating a range of programs supporting the recruitment, engagement and retention of students within the faculty such as community building events and various student/student leader, and volunteer initiatives. The Coordinator acts as a resource for best practices related to the student experience, student engagement, and community outreach.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, and three years of related experience within student engagement, retention and community outreach, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent supervisory and volunteer management skills, and experience managing student volunteers.
  • Excellent business and financial administration skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment and to demonstrate a high level of tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of normal office hours.
  • Ability to arrange appropriate travel within the lower mainland.
  • Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, database and online and multimedia technologies including enterprise level information systems and content management systems (e.g., Word, Access, Excel, Javascript, HTML, AEM).
