The Evening Supervisor reports to the Director of Youth Care Services and is responsible to support the Youth Care Workers in the facilities as well as administer the New Employee Training program (NET).
Support includes but is not limited to; crisis support, shift coverage, answering questions about reports, youth interventions, policies, Code of Conduct, scheduling, and general youth care practices.
The incumbent shall have a genuine concern for youth and their families and an appreciation of the issues they face and be familiar with and have an understanding of the goals and objectives of HBYS.
The Evening Supervisor may be expected to report to any of the HBYS facilities during any shift. Access to a car, with the necessary insurance for transporting youth is imperative.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a recognized Youth Care Worker diploma with an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience or a Bachelor's degree in the human services field
- Minimum of three (3) years of direct Youth Care experience
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a group care setting
- Meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the Province of Nova Scotia, Department of Community Services, Provincial Policies for Child-Caring Facilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In all duties and responsibilities and any delegation of tasks, the incumbent is responsible to ensure that all matters under the Provincial Policies for Child-Caring Facilities which fall under their responsibilities are routinely reviewed and that the policies are met or exceeded.
- Provide leadership to and sharing of knowledge and/or training, and support to HomeBridge Youth Care Workers and other employees as required
- Work cooperatively with all Management team members
- Provide direction to and support Youth Care Workers
- Ensure all employees are fully aware of and adhere to the policies and procedures of HomeBridge and DCS
- Build ongoing and supportive relationships with all stakeholders: youth, professionals associated with HomeBridge, families, placing agencies, community, etc.
- Fully participate in HomeBridge committees and external committees as required
- Submit informative, detailed, timely reports, monthly to the management team
- Provide emergency, oncall support while on shift
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Youth Care Services or the Executive Director
- Training on an annual basis to meet or exceed the standards of the Youth Care Profession
- Coordinate and facilitate Student Placement opportunities for Child and Youth Care students; meet with placement Supervisors from approved schools to discuss placement expectations
- Meet with new employees and guide them through the N.E.T. (New employee training) program until they have completed the required components
- Attend Management, Supervisor and Service delivery meetings as directed
