    Description

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform work in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "D" Driver's License with "Z" endorsement, and obtain required City permit for assigned vehicle(s) and equipment(s).
    • Must possess and maintain a Ministry of Environment Wastewater Collection Class 1 Operator's License.
    • Considerable experience with equipment, tools, materials, and methods for construction, repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance of a wastewater collection system, plant, and divisional facilities.
    • Experience applying OHSA act for construction and industrial regulatory requirements.
    • Experience providing work direction.

    You must also have:

    • Ability to plan, coordinate, and schedule activities.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve problems and conflicting situations.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Considerable experience with tools and methods for operational and logistical response to emergencies.
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings and material schedules.
    • Ability to report to various work locations.
    • Knowledge of and experience applying the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • May be required to do shift work.
    • Ability to work overtime and call-ins as required.
    • Ability to orient new staff on assigned vehicles/equipment and provide training.
    • Ability to use technical devices for work coordination and communication.
    • Ability to deal courteously with the public.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Physically capable of performing required duties.
    • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces with exposure to sewage and water treatment plant environments.
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
    • Familiarity with Ontario Statutes, including Occupational Health and Safety Act.
