What Will You Do?

  • Supervise all the shop mechanics. This includes completing performance appraisals, any discipline, scheduling time off and holidays, training, answering employee concerns and questions.
  • Assesses workload, prepares servicing schedules, and assigns and delegates work to staff. Ensure all work is documented according to company procedure through computer records and work orders.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance checks (PM1, PM2 & PM4) and safety inspections to equipment in conjunction with Corporate Fleet Manager. Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance with third party service provider and Erb staff.
  • Responsible for ordering parts and supplies for all repairs, ie. reefer, trailer and truck. Monitors inventory of parts. Authorises all of the P.O.'s. Update the TMT System.
  • Makes preliminary assessments of accident damages and arranges for necessary repairs.
  • Assist in the repair and servicing of all Erb equipment. Road test vehicles when required. Communicate with Corporate Fleet Manager regarding major repairs and parts. Assist drivers with problems on road either by telephone or by service call.
  • Makes recommendations for changes in staffing as necessary to meet demands of workload; interviews applicants with HR and makes recommendations for hire; assesses training needs, develops training programs, and trains new and existing staff in various aspects of fleet operations, repair, and maintenance.
  • Communicate with dispatch on a daily basis to prioritise availability of equipment and any nogo equipment.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are being met within the shop.
  • Address Occupational Health and Safety issues as related to the yard and facility.
  • Assure that the general maintenance of the Shop is completed.
  • Responsible for all uniform approvals.
  • All other duties as required.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Five (5) years of experience in the repair of heavy equipment including experience using electronic diagnostic equipment; or,
  • Five (5) years of experience performing duties equivalent to the job description.
  • Fully certified and licenced.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Citrix).
  • Organizational skills, ability to remain calm in demanding times.
  • Knowledge of maintaining costs as it relates to operational profitability.
  • Positive attitude with proven people skills. Ability to be fair but firm with staff and customers.
  • Honest, diplomatic and trustworthy.
