Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
Currently enrolled in a postsecondary coop program at a recognized educational institution on a fulltime basis and returning to school upon completion of the coop placement.
Eligible to work a 4 month or 8 month coop placement.

This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school's co-op department.

Job Summary:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform field inspections under the supervision of a senior construction inspector in the areas of water, wastewater and road construction projects
Create accurate and detailed project records such as deficiencies and asconstructed drawings
Witness work conducted for quality assurance and quality control testing of infrastructure and construction materials
Provide support to the Senior Construction Inspector, with daily construction activity documentation
Create and maintain professional relationships with Regional staff, Local Municipal staff, consultants, contractors, and the public
Operate technical equipment to complete materials testing
Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

Currently enrolled in a postsecondary Civil Engineering Technology program
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
Organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred

Previous construction related work experience

Working Conditions:

This position will work predominately outside in varying weather conditions and difficult terrain. This position will entail daily physical activity such as standing and walking for long periods of time.

The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver's license by their first day of employment.
