  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary coop program at a recognized educational institution on a fulltime basis and returning to school upon completion of the coop placement.
  • Eligible to work a 4 month or 8 month coop placement.

This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school's co-op department.

Job Summary:


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Perform field inspections under the supervision of a senior construction inspector in the areas of water, wastewater and road construction projects
  • Create accurate and detailed project records such as deficiencies and asconstructed drawings
  • Witness work conducted for quality assurance and quality control testing of infrastructure and construction materials
  • Provide support to the Senior Construction Inspector, with daily construction activity documentation
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with Regional staff, Local Municipal staff, consultants, contractors, and the public
  • Operate technical equipment to complete materials testing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary Civil Engineering Technology program
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred

  • Previous construction related work experience

Working Conditions:


  • This position will work predominately outside in varying weather conditions and difficult terrain. This position will entail daily physical activity such as standing and walking for long periods of time.
