JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:


  • Provides confidential expert consulting and advisory services on matters under the Code of
Conduct and Contractor Standards.- Manages case handling, including intake, initial assessment, analysis and resolution of conflict of

interest disclosures and reports of possible breaches of the Code of Conduct and Contractor

  • Standards.
  • Conducts research and analysis, makes recommendations to management, employees and
contractors to resolve ethics concerns related to conflicts of interest, procurement, close
- relationships at work, outside activities, gifts and hospitality and protection against retaliation.
  • Leads investigations and coordinates complex investigations into possible breaches of the Code
of Conduct and Contractor Standards including by setting terms of reference, monitoring progress,
- supporting parties, and developing remedial actions.
  • Develops & improves program procedures and tools to enable effective and timely
documentation, investigation, resolution and reporting of Code of Conduct matters, in consultation
- with Human Resources and other stakeholders.
  • Partners with stakeholders to review, update and develop communications and annual and
targeted training programs that support awareness of organizational ethics, compliance with the

  • Code of Conduct and an ethical culture.
  • Coaches and influences all levels of managers on acting on the organization's values and
modeling and supporting an ethical culture including supporting privacy and protecting personal
- information, proper use of BC Hydro assets and systems, avoiding conflicts of interest, employing
- fair and transparent decision-making.
  • Provides expert advice and recommendations on updates to the Code of Conduct, Contractor
Standards, and the Ethics Program, develops supporting procedures, standards and guidelines
- and program resources as needed, and ensures coordinated rollouts to support change
- implementation and adoption.
  • Identifies critical cases and workplace trends, issues and risks and develops and implements
appropriate mitigation strategies, in consultation with Human Resources, Legal, Internal Audit, and
- other stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains effective partnerships with program partners including Human Resources,
Employee Relations, Legal, Internal Audit, Security and others, and maintains positive relations
- with Union representatives and other external parties.
  • Ensures effective program evaluation & reporting measures are in place, supporting effective
and regular quarterly and annual reporting to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.- Upholds the credibility and reputation of the Ethics Office by ensuring issues, inquiries and cases

are handled with empathy, sensitivity, consistency, respect and professionalism with all parties
- and stakeholders.
  • Provides support for other programs and projects in the Ethics Office as required.

Qualifications:

***- A university degree or equivalent qualification in Law, Business Management/Administration,

Human Resources Management, Medicine, Social Sciences, or Philosophy is preferred, or similar
- completion of professional designation with a focus on administrative or corporate ethics or compliance programs and conducting or coordinating workplace or professional
- practice investigations.
  • Proven track record of critical thinking and problemsolving skills and sound, independent
judgment in complex pragmatic and effective in the business.- Strong interpersonal skills with knowledge and experience in consulting and facilitation, with the

ability to influence leaders to align with strategic HR goals.- Strong written communication skills to prepare, present and discuss findings and


recommendations on issues clearly and concisely and to share complex ideas effectively.- Ability to adapt to quickly shifting priorities and changing contexts.


  • Experience in a large utility or a complex business environment with multiple stakeholders and
strategic considerations is an asset.
