Owned by InnVest Hotels, Canada's largest owner & operator of hotels and focused exclusively on hospitality, Marriott Ottawa is preparing to begin a transformative, top to bottom renovation of all guestrooms, meeting and event space as well as all public areas, commencing in 2023, positioning the hotel to continue its storied legacy of hospitality excellence.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


  • Responsible for greeting and serving the Banquet guests in accordance with Marriott's Standards of Quality in service, presentation and sanitation in a gracious and professional manner.
  • Attend department meetings and prefunction briefing as scheduled.
  • Read a BEO and know how to complete a setup and "mise en place" based on the information contained therein.
  • Set tables in your assigned area (or check to see they have been set), correctly and uniformly.
  • Assist Captain or Banquet Manager in setting up buffet and other special food services tables/stations.
  • Be knowledgeable about breakdown and cleanup procedures.
  • Follow "clean as you go" policy in all work performed.
  • Comply with all local/division energy conservation and accident/loss prevention guidelines.
  • Present a neat, polished appearance to the hotel's guests by following established grooming and uniform standards.
  • Report any guest or Host accidents/injuries to the most easily accessible Manager immediately.
  • Adhere to all division and local standard policies and procedures.
  • Perform all guest contact activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner, at all times maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a cooperative, teamlike attitude in working with supervisors and fellow Hosts (both within the department and in other hotel departments), to help achieve the hotel's common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction and profit margins.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward the hotel and the job being performed.
  • Report to work on time (as scheduled) and in proper uniform/attire.
  • Other reasonable duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience_

  • Previous serving experience in a hotel or similar environment required.
  • Previous customer service experience a definite asset.
  • Smart Serve Certification required.

Skills and Abilities_

  • Excellent communication skills in both official languages (English & French) preferred.
  • Superior service excellence skills to exceed guest expectations.
  • Excellent planning & organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to perform physically demanding duties (standing, lifting, walking).
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Able to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Proven team player.
