Position Scope:

Located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, KRRC serves youth and adults with intellectual, physical, behavioral, psychological, and/or psychiatric disabilities.


Responsible to the
Director of Clinical Services and a member of the Clinical Services Team, the Social Worker provides direct assistance to clients and families; supports the development and implementation of clients' Individual Program Plans within an inter-disciplinary team; and liaises with the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services and KRRC partner organizations to ensure clients' holistic needs are addressed consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of KRRC.


Besides supporting the individuals who reside at KRRC, the Social Worker provides consultation to other Disability Support Program (DSP) Service Providers in the Western Region as a member of the Cambridge Community Outreach Group, also known as the CCOG Team.


This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to support clients who will be transitioning from facility-based living to small homes in the community.

It is being offered as a
1-year term but there is the possibility that it will be extended and/or become permanent.


Required Qualifications:


  • Master of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work with relevant work experience
  • Eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with regards to how to meet the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health issues, dementia, and behavioural challenges
  • Ability to promote and enhance positive, collaborative working relationships
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to be selfdirected
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member in a fastpaced environment
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills that enhance problem solving and decisionmaking
  • Creativity and flexibility in approaching issues/concerns and implementing best practices
  • Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, and accountability
  • Strong understanding of the meaning of confidentiality in a health care context
  • Commitment to the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and DSP Transformation
  • Experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting is an asset
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Willingness to do occasional travel within mainland Nova Scotia

Salary Scale:
Step 1- $ hourly - $ annually.**
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
