    Description

    This position works as part of a team of SCADA Specialists to provide a full range of support services for all aspects of the SCADA systems in Halton Region's water and wastewater facilities.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports AVEVA Historian's, and related software completing data back fills and troubleshooting historical data issues.
  • Builds and tests SCADA servers, work stations, software upgrades, OS upgrades including documentation of configurations and related Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Administrates, configures, and upgrades the Region's FactoryTalk Asset Centre Software.
  • Supports the SCADA test bench including all related software and hardware.
  • Develops control narratives, writes, tests and commissions PLC programming, HMI programming and configuration of graphics, alarming, trending and reporting systems.
  • Troubleshoots Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and software, SLC 5/05s, CompactLogix and ControlLogix, AVEVA's System Platform, InTouch, I/O servers, Historian Software.
  • Programs custom VB.NET/SQL Server and Visual Studio applications.
  • Manages work orders and critical spares in a SAP Plant Maintenance module.
  • Maintains the Region's SCADA Standards.
  • Researches, tests and recommends software, hardware and technologies.
  • Skills & Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Five (5) years progressive experience programming AVEVA's System Platform, InTouch OMI for System Platform, Historian, Historian Client, I/O Servers, OI Servers, DI servers, Application servers, and Galaxy Servers.
  • Programming AVEVA's InTouch, Allen-Bradley PLCs (all versions), and SQL Server; experience using FactoryTalk View Studio Machine Edition (all versions), Windows 10 and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience working with Ethernet networks.
  • To be successful in the role, the candidate will have strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills along with the ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to read and interpret process control narratives, process and instrumentation drawings, electrical control schematics and instrumentation loop drawings.
  • Preferred

  • Certified Developer Certification for AVEVA's Historian, Historian Client, Application Server and InTouch OMI for System Platform.
  • Experience working in a municipal water and wastewater environment.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with related legislation and acts pertinent to the Water and Wastewater industry such as Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Water Regulation Act, Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Experience working with AVEVA System Platform, Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol, and with experience working with AutoCAD and administrating Rockwell's FactoryTalk AssetCentre.
  • Working/ Employment Conditions

  • The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Police Security Clearance, by the first day of employment.
  • The incumbent will be required to serve on stand-by on a rotational basis, and respond to after hour callouts.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Ontario driver's license. Daily travel within Halton Region is required; incumbent must supply their own transportation.
