About Us:


The Energy Operation Division is responsible for leasing and maintaining crown mineral rights, and then calculating, assessing, and collecting revenues from natural gas, conventional oil, oil sands, natural gas liquids, coal, and other metallic and industrial minerals.


The Royalty Operations branch is responsible for accurate and timely calculation, assessment, collection and reconciliation of natural gas and conventional oil royalty.

The branch is one of the primary drivers of revenue within the department, fostering relationships with natural gas and oil industry, while providing exceptional client service to ensure reporting for royalty purposes is accurate and in compliance with legislation and business rules.


Role:

Reporting to the Team Lead, Royalty Features, this position assesses, levies and collects natural gas Crown Royalties from Alberta's production of gas and gas by-products under the Mines and Minerals Act, and Alberta Natural Gas Royalty Regulations


You will be accountable for the timely and accurate assessment of various product royalties including condensate and helium, determining potential eligibility for gas royalty programs and rates for gas and gas products in all provincial royalty frameworks, and the review and reporting of existing continuous royalty determination.


  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the administrative and operational activities in the Royalty Features Team.
  • Ensure internal royalty calculations are completed accurately by completing the invoice tasks assigned each month.
  • Provide quality client service and respond to all internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner. Respond to and resolve clients inquiries within turnaround times.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Oil Royalty Programs and other work areas within Gas Royalty Operations to resolve discrepancies and issues.

Qualifications:

This position requires a High School diploma combined with 4 years related experience.

The following would be considered assets for this position:

  • An accounting diploma or Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accountants (CAPPA) certificate or related work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Gas Royalty processes, legislation, and policy.
  • Efficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Client service experience.
  • Organization, teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.

Salary:

$2,042.85 to $2,511.73 bi-weekly ($53,318 - $65,556/year)
