We are looking for an

IT Business Analyst for a

7-month contract position with possible extensions in

Calgary, Alberta.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week.

It is NOT a remote role.

Role Description

The Field Data Capture Migration project is seeking an IT Business Analyst to provide support during the conversion from an existing FDC System to Energy Components (EC).

The analyst will work as part of a high performing team to understand the technology and associated business requirements and help support the project and business teams as they execute Quality Assurance test planning and execution activities.


Responsibilities

  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
  • Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test plan that ensures that the implemented solution meets the business outcomes and requirements.
  • Develop test cases and test scripts as per the test plan and work with HP ALM tool to manage testing.
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes working with HP ALM.
  • Validate that user expectations are achieved during the testing process.
  • Successfully engage, drive, and facilitate multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Work independently with users to define concepts or workflows and under the direction of project managers.
  • Be the liaison between the project teams, technology teams and support teams.
  • Manage and execute required stakeholder and client engagement across project deliverables to support project plan and scope outline.
  • Collaborate with project team members to progress the project forward as per project plan and scope outline.
  • Manage and participate in Transition to Operations scope and activities for services and/or products built by the project team.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose highlevel information into details, abstract up from lowlevel information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements (business requirements document), use cases, workflow diagrams, and context diagrams.

Required Skills and Experience

5+ years of demonstrated working experience as a Business Analyst role (or similar)

Proven experience with use case and 'day in the life' scenario development

Experience working in Oil & Gas

Minimum 3 years of experience Field Data Capturing with PVR or Energy Component

  • Intermediate knowledge of Business Process Models.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with merger, acquisition, and divesture.
  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis (IIBA-CBAP).
  • Knowledge of Business Process Management.
  • Experience with Energy Components.
