Life Journey Education is a leading international education and overseas career consulting firm. We operate our own camp, "Camp La Vie," at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.

Our mission is to empower students and professionals to achieve their academic and career aspirations by providing enriching international experiences.


As a Camp La Vie Junior Summer Camp Project Member, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing our successful camps.

These camps are designed to provide a transformative experience for international students visiting Vancouver.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of young campers.


Key Responsibilities:

Camp Planning: Collaborate with the Camp La Vie team to plan and organize various aspects of the camp, including activities, excursions, and schedules.

Camp Implementation: Actively engage with campers, ensuring they have a safe, educational, and enjoyable experience throughout the camp.

Activity Coordination: Lead and supervise a variety of camp activities, such as team-building exercises, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and cultural workshops.

Language Support: If proficient, provide language support in Japanese, Spanish, or Mandarin (Chinese) to facilitate communication among campers.

Safety and Well-being: Maintain a safe and secure camp environment by adhering to safety protocols and emergency procedures. Supervise campers during activities, meals, transportation, and rest periods.

Camper Interaction: Foster positive group dynamics, mediate and resolve conflicts among campers, and encourage mutual respect and cooperation.

Mentorship: Serve as a role model, demonstrating leadership, integrity, and empathy. Provide guidance and support for campers' personal growth and character development.

Feedback and Evaluation: Observe and assess camper performance, participation, and behavior. Provide constructive feedback and recognition to encourage personal growth and achievement.

Team Collaboration: Work effectively with fellow camp counselors and staff to create a cohesive and supportive camp community. Assist in coordinating and executing camp-wide events and special programs.

Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary administrative responsibilities, such as maintaining attendance records, incident reports, and camper evaluations.

Parent and Staff Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents, addressing inquiries, providing updates on camper progress, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.


Requirements:


  • Enthusiasm for working with young campers.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the camp, including precamp training and orientation.
  • Cultural competence and an appreciation for diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Japanese, Spanish, or Mandarin (Chinese) is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Passion for creating a safe, inclusive, and enriching camp environment.
