    The Engineering Technologist is a member of the Medical Physics Department and provides electronics and mechanical engineering support for maintenance and repair of Linear Accelerators, Simulators, x-ray equipment and other ancillary systems in the Radiation Medicine Program. Responsibilities include: providing support in preventive maintenance, quality assurance tests and repairs on radiation therapy equipment within the Radiation Medicine Program; maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair activities in the service log database; maintaining an accurate inventory of Accelerator spare parts; providing on-call support for radiation therapy treatment after hours and on weekends/ holidays; working overtime in event of major equipment breakdown; participating in educational activities including Accelerator training courses, radiation safety and occupational safety training courses; supervising work done by Service Trainees, outside contractors and other non- CNSC approved staff who work in Radiation Treatment areas; assisting Medical Physicists in installation, commissioning and implementation of new equipment and technologies; participating in research and development projects within the department of Medical Physics; performing other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3- Year Community College Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years work experience in electronics technology or related fields.
  • 1 year work experience in Radiation Therapy equipment support.
  • Training course on Linear Accelerator Maintenance at a manufacturer's training facility.
  • UHN Radiation Safety Training Course for Accelerator Service personnel.
  • Approval to service Linear Accelerators by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
  • Good communication skills to work with a range of clinical, scientific and technical staff.
