NATURE OF WORK


The Coordinator of Socio-Emotional Wellness plans, coordinates and implements initiatives in support of developing an iiyiyiu/iinuu approach to student wellbeing.

This includes providing direction to and coordination of the successful implementation of the Cree School Board's social-emotional wellness initiatives and psychological services.


The Coordinator of Socio-Emotional Wellbeing supervises professional and support staff, including the CSB psychologists, Counsellors in Re-education and other external partners.


CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
Develop and coordinate the implementation of a Cree School Board social-emotional wellbeing services mandate and strategy.


Creates and works collaboratively with other departments for the integration of a CSB-wide social-emotional wellness model of services aligned with the Cree School Board strategic action plan.


Supports the development and implementation of an iiyiyiu/iinuu based social emotional learning program and including research on Indigenous best practices socio-emotional well being in collaboration with other CSB departments.

Assesses and verifies short-term and long-term goals of the CSB Social Emotional wellness program through the use of data to make decisions and adjustments to the Social Emotional Wellness program and services

Supports schools to create positive behaviour school plans and provide guidance.

Coordinates and/or participates in and / internal and external working groups / committees focused on social-emotional wellness matters;
Oversees the development of a CSB-wide iiyiyiu/iinuu responsive model of psychological support services for the schools.


Collaborates with the Cree Nation Government, Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay on the development of the protocols, initiatives, related to students socio-emotional wellbeing.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.

Master's degree, preferably in Education, Psychoeducation; Social Work or a related area

Five (5) years of experience in a similar position

Oral and written fluency in English is required

Fluency in Cree and French is an asset

Other related professional certifications/ licenses

KEY COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

Ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects

Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels and functions and to develop strong organizational knowledge

Knowledge of iiyiyiu/iinuu culture and Indigenous learning is an asset

Knowledge of iiyiyiu/iinuu istchee, CSB organization, stakeholders, and processes is an asset

Able to manage complex reporting relationships

Excellent leadership, interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills

Well-developed listening, communication and decision-making skills?

Demonstrated judgment and analytical skills

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Experience with Microsoft platforms is an asset


SALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Regular full-time position.

35 hours/week;
