Applications are invited for the following position:

AREA:
Client Care, In Centre - Nursing Supervisor**
CLASSIFICATION:(2) Casual Nursing Supervisor (Non-Union)


POSITION SCOPE:

Under the direction of the Director of Client Care (In-Centre) the Nursing Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring a high quality of nursing care for 200 participants of the In-Centre and Community Options programs.

Working as a collaborative member of our medical, nursing and leadership team, the Nursing Supervisor provides direction and support to front-line staff and clients consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC).

The Nursing Supervisor is directly responsible for clients, staff and building safety for KRRC on evenings and weekends. They coordinate client care and services in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Overall operation of the organization after hours, holidays, weekends and anytime Senior Management are not present.
  • Provide direction, supervision and support to enhance client centered relationships.
  • Assume a leadership role during crisis (medical, environmental or logístical).
  • Supports nursing practice and client care.
  • Creates an environment in which cooperation, professional growth and mutual respect can flourish.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of a baccalaureate program in nursing or a diploma in nursing. Currently licensed (or eligibility for licensing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the field of mental health, intellectual disabilities, addiction, children, and geriatrics an asset.
  • Availability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays; shift work; days, evenings and nights.
  • Required to provide Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • NVCI, Low Arousal, WHMIS; OH&S training will be provided.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate general business correspondence, instruction and data related information. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, other employees, clients, and families.
  • Ability to make decisions which are of a critical nature and which demonstrate excellent judgment ability. Also possesses analytical and creative critical thinking skills that will enhance problem solving and decisionmaking. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and data furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form
  • Strong leadership abilities, must be able to communicate effectively with others given scheduling restrictions and able to remain calm in a fastpaced work environment.
