    Job Description:

    At D Spot, we firmly believe in the philosophy that "There are no Spare Customers." We are a dynamic and customer-centric Café dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences that resonate with each individual we serve. As a Dessert Artist, your role is crucial in maintaining this philosophy. You will play a pivotal role in crafting visually stunning and palate-pleasing desserts that leave a lasting impression on our guests. Your artistic flair, innovative mindset, and attention to detail will elevate our dessert menu and contribute to the overall dining experience.

    What you will be doing (Responsibilities):

    • Preparing and plating visually stunning dessert creations that reflect the D Spot's commitment to quality and innovation.
    • Prepare and assemble desserts according to established recipes and techniques.
    • Decorate and garnish desserts with precision and attention to detail.
    • Responsible for preparing and restocking the dessert station prior to and at the end of each shift.
    • Preparing for service each day, ensuring all preparations are done in advance to avoid delays in service.
    • Responsible for taking care of leftover food/drinks, whether that means disposing of it, returning unused items to the correct inventory location, or storing it for use later.
    • Working as a team player with fellow staff members to ensure all food items are delivered at the appropriate time and temperature.
    • Unload delivery trucks and store inventory correctly.
    • Maintaining a clean and organized dessert station, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
    • Engage with guests, describing desserts with enthusiasm and providing recommendations.
    • Demonstrate creativity, personal commitment to service excellence and an emotional sense of gracious hospitality.
    • Work as a team player, supporting colleagues during service to ensure a consistent guest experience throughout the restaurant, including running food, refreshing beverages, cleaning and resetting tables.
    • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance your knowledge and skills.
    • Following clear and concise instructions. Other duties as assigned.

    What you will bring (Requirement):

    • Experience – Previous experience in a dessert-focused role or as a pastry chef in a high-end restaurant or culinary establishment is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Functional knowledge – Passion for food and strives to exceed expectations for service excellence with a demonstrated understanding of various dessert techniques, flavour combinations, and presentation styles.
    • Attention to detail – Keen eye for aesthetics and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality desserts.
    • Service Excellence – Creativity and innovation, with the ability to think outside the box and push the boundaries of traditional dessert-making.
    • Internal Service – an appreciation that 'internal customers' (i.e. Servers) are considered strategic partners.
    • Communication – Excellent communication and social skills, 100% fluency in English with impeccable standards of hygiene and grooming.
    • Safety Focus – Demonstrates safe work practices and looks for ways to minimize workplace injuries.
    • Decision making – Able to prioritize, making prompt and reasonable decisions.
    • Problem solving – Adept at juggling multiple needs, calmly, respectfully, creatively and successfully resolve problems, as required.
    • Emotional maturity – Interacts with others in a respectful manner, with demonstrated qualities of sincerity, helpfulness, courtesy and humility.
    • Ethical and professional conduct – Fulfills responsibilities with the highest integrity.
    • Technology proficiency – Operates and maintains all departmental equipment, fully competent with POS.
    • Physical Aspect – Ability to lift and transport items weighing over 40 pounds, and stand on their feet for eight hours or more.
    • Flexibility – Ability to work a schedule that varies and includes rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and shifts that end at 03:00 AM.
    • Work Authorization – Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. D Spot is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
