Intermediate Safety and Health Professional who has experience with Certificate of Recognition (
COR)/ or ISO 18001/45001 and aspires to become an active employee in a vibrant, well-established company. The role can be based in Waterloo or anywhere in GTA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Ontario Regional HSE Manager in the delivery of GHD's HSE Management System and initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate HSE prevention programs, procedures, and occupational health and safety monitoring tools.
  • Assist in implementing the Regional Action Plan and maintaining the Regional Risk Assessment.
  • Enforce GHD's HSE Management System and regional legal requirements.
  • Assist with maintenance of Certificate of Recognition (CORTM) in Ontario
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of regional HSE training programs, including onboarding training for new employees, and coordination of internal and external training.
  • Collaborate on the HSE vendor prequalification process.
  • Lead job safety analyses, audits and incident investigations
  • Identify existing and potential risks, suggest abatement and mitigation strategies, implement preventative and corrective measures, and perform follow up verification.
  • Manage regional incident reports, remain available to respond quickly and prepare reports in a timely manner if needed.
  • Coordinate the collection of HSE performance measurements, identify gaps, and prepare relevant reports.
  • Collaborate with employees and managers on risk identification and elimination, while promoting preventative actions
  • Facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committees/Health and Safety Representative requirements for offices, materials testing laboratories and project sites.
  • Actively participate in regional and international team meetings
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections/audits in GHD offices, materials testing laboratories, and project sites.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with the development of HSE communications and presentations.
  • Support personal protective equipment inspection programs and inventories.
  • Review and approve project health & safety plans and job safety and environmental analyses.
  • Provide support and guidance to project teams and office employees with regards to GHD's safety programs and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Perform all other jobrelated tasks.
Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Safety or other jobrelated field or relevant experience.
  • Possession or currently in pursuit of CRSP designation or equivalent an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience preferably in the construction, environmental, materials testing, hazardous remediation; and/or consulting required.
  • Experience as an IHSA Certificate of Recognition (COR) internal auditor or ISO 18001/45001 an asset.
  • Possession or currently in pursuit of the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification and field experience, an asset.
  • Experience with risk and behaviourbased safety programs, an asset.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HSE programs.
  • Experience conducting health, safety and environment risk analyses and development of health and safety plans or equivalent.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis type methods, or equivalent.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of Canadian occupational health and safety laws, regulations and standards relevant to the companies' activities.
  • Available for regional travel (approximately 5 % of the working year).
  • Well developed sense of initiative, versatility, and independence and professional judgement.
  • Must be detail oriented, with strong organizational, time management and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and set priorities that promote ontime delivery.
  • Ability to manage files with discretion, transparency, courtesy and confidentially.
  • Good teamwork and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate in English both orally and written (French would be an asset, not required).
  • Computer skills, namely Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams).
  • Must have current valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
