Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching HLTH "Mental Health, Substance Use and

Addictions Across Health Practices:
Working with Persons, Families and Communities", during the Winter term from January to April 2024.

NOTE:
This is an online course.

The instructor is responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering a fully online course using Brightspace, including recording and uploading weekly lectures, preparing and uploading instructional materials, readings and assignments, directing and managing online discussions, and evaluating students.

This course focuses on the development of knowledge, attitudes and skills essential to supporting persons, families, and communities affected by mental health, substance use and addiction disorders.

Key topics to be addressed include:
social determinants of health; ethical decision-making; therapeutic alliance; effective communication; screening and assessment; health behaviour change approaches.
This course is part of the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Practice experience in the field of mental health and addictions, previous teaching experience at the university level, and experience with webbased online education technology are required. Must have a degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of a Master's degree. PhD is preferred.
