About the Position
The Norfolk General Hospital and West Haldimand General Hospital is seeking a
_Full Time Environmental Services _
Mission to relieve illness and suffering, and help people live healthier lives. Reporting to the Director of Support Services,
the incumbent is responsible for efficient operation and management of the housekeeping/laundry & linen services supporting
the Hospital and Nursing home.
**Responsibilities: - Plans, co-ordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities including human resource
management, supplies, quality auditing and record keeping within the housekeeping and laundry departments
- Implement and conduct training sessions and coordinate an annual training calendar at site for all housekeeping
- Review job routines, programs and systems for housekeeping and laundry to ensure continuous quality
- Active participation in standing committees for the facility.
- Participate in the budgeting process and the ongoing financial management of the housekeeping and laundry
- Recommend equipment and supplies needed for housekeeping and laundry operations.
- Provide regular feedback to staff including performance appraisals and staff development
- Monitor work performance of contracted services
- Foster and maintain good working relationships with all customers
- Keep informed and up to date on related technology and equipment
- Responsible for recognizing unsafe work practices and potential hazards
experience
- Degree or equivalent from a college or University is an asset
Unionized environment
- Knowledge of evidencebased and prevailing best practices relating to housekeeping, laundry services
- Knowledge of Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) guidelines
- Strong understanding of Infection Control practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Scheduling process
- Excellent Attendance record
- Hospital and LTC experience an asset
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday day shift with weekend availability
