Reporting to the Senior Project Manager the Project Coordinator Co-op Student will be responsible for providing coordination and support to various aspects of operations to ensure the efficient and profitable execution of the installation of underground power/hydro utility infrastructure projects.


Please note this role will be supporting our Tristar Airports team within Aecon Utilities, based out of our Mississauga office.

Travel across Canada for site visits is a requirement for this role. This is a 12-month co-op placement between September August 2025.


What You'll Do Here:


  • Assists in the efficient scheduling of various work crews, as required, at airports across Canada.
  • Timely and accurate completion of project control requirements; Productions, Progress Payment Application Summary (PPA), Change Order Log, Daily Work Record entry, Billing Approvals and Invoicing.
  • Prepare timely written notification (RFI) of changes when identified.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions for consumable materials and receive all materials in SAP to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Meet utility crews on site, as required, to assist in accurate and timely locates.
  • Support Project Manager to ensure the project has all materials, permits and subcontractors required to avoid project delays.
  • Prepare monthly material inventory counts for the project.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly financial forecast for assigned projects.
  • Review and processing of daily paperwork.
  • Ensure current engineering drawings, asbuilts and QA/QC checklists are provided and completed.
  • Assists in the acquisition of required safety/experience documentation from subcontractors.
  • Reviews/tracks/summarizes Quality Assurance nonconformances and ensures appropriate training and followup.
  • Ensures the safe/organized status of materials and equipment in the outside yard areas.
  • Drive improvement in the safety culture and performance.

What You Bring to the Team:


  • Current college or university student enrolled in a Civil or Electrical Engineering/Construction Technologist/Technician or related program.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Willing and able to travel across Canada for 23week periods during May-November.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in the utility construction industry an asset.


  • Sound computer skills

  • MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project.
  • Strong communication skills oral and written.
  • Selfmotivated with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with others as a team.
