    Description

    Our government client is seeking a permanent Senior Media Relations Specialist. You will be responsible for developing and implementing media relations, communications and engagement strategies that strengthen stakeholder partnerships and contribute to a positive corporate brand.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    Media and Stakeholder Relations

    • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with a variety of media, stakeholders and industry counterparts.
    • Enhances reputation by projecting a positive image of the organization through proactive
    • communications with media and stakeholders.
    • Plans and supports all interactions with the media, acting as first point of contact and official spokesperson.
    • Consults with various stakeholders to gain understanding of topics, audiences and forums of interest.
    • Develops and maintains a value-added and mutually beneficial relationship between Communications team and other internal branches, regional staff and external service providers and partners.

    Regulations, Policies, Procedures, Programs

    • Monitors and analyzes trends, developments and media reports.
    • Develops and implements communications strategies for the management of emergent issues and crises.
    • Ensures that communications activities are consistent with corporate-wide strategic goals.
    • Researches and writes a variety of communication products such as news releases, media lines, questions and answers (Qs & As), backgrounders and articles.
    • Assists with the development and delivery of ad hoc projects as required.

    Partnerships and Stakeholder Relations

    • Provides media relations training for other officials speaking on behalf of CATSA.

    Qualifications

    • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in public relations, journalism or another speciality relevant to the duties of the position.
    • A minimum of five years (5) of experience in media relations, acting as official media spokesperson and executing effective news media campaigns, including development of media strategies, media lines, news releases, backgrounders and Qs & As;
    • Fully bilingual Language profile: CBC *French testing happening during interview stages
    • Must be eligible for a Secret Security Clearance
