Analyst Assistant

Primary responsibilities of the job:


  • Analyzing pH and osmolarity samples from the Toxicology department including any associated GLP work.

Run analytical samples on the required instrumentation ensuring:

  • Equipment calibration and verification is performed prior to sample analysis.
  • Accuracy and precision in proper preparation of solutions and samples.
  • The Analytical Standards database is maintained, records of standards in use are filed and maintained, records of retained and discarded standards are updated.
  • Applicable QC charting for instrument calibration and control samples are updated to monitor instrument performance.
  • Quality control parameters are recorded by constantly monitoring/calculating/charting (where applicable) of LFB, LFM, standards run as samples and control brand results, during the instrument run in "real" time.
  • Thorough QC investigations are conducted when instrument or control samples data fail to meet target values.
  • Assisting the Analysts in the basic operation and maintenance of the instruments as required.
  • Preparing reports for a subset of analyses including:
  • pH, Moisture, Nitrite, CO and NOx reports
  • Assisting the Analysts in the integration/reporting of other analyses as assigned.
  • Assisting the Analysts in the preparation of standards and solutions as required.
  • Preparing, collecting or creating GLP Documents.
  • The employee shall implement the Laboratory Quality Policy and perform their duties in accordance to existing project specific requirements, current Test Methods, study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Compliance to Health & Safety policies and procedures and wear required Personal Protective equipment at all times

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Diploma/Degree (Science Laboratory Technician, Environmental Biology or Chemical Technology)
  • Approximately 12 years' experience as a Laboratory Technician or equivalent role.
  • Equivalent experience/education combination
