CUSTODIAN
PERMENANT PART-TIME
HOURS / WEEK


Qualifications:


  • Friendly, Christ-Like attitude
  • Physically capable to lift heavy (20kg) objects, move furniture as needed and clean as required
  • Complete Plan to Protect Training
  • Negative Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Health Assessment Form completed by physician stating physical readiness for the position, including up to date vaccinations

Key Accountabilities/Duties & tasks

  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly Cleaning Schedules
  • Expectation: The custodian is required to have the mindset of quality and consistent cleanliness, keeping the health of the overall centre at the forefront. Schedules for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks should be strictly adhered to._
  • Employee tasks include but are not limited to: collects and bags all garbage from the centre, placing the tied bags in a closed dumpster, disinfects and cleans garbage cans and replaces bags daily. washes and sanitizes bathroom fixtures daily with germicidal solution, Sweeps/vacuums & mops hallways and classrooms according to flooring specifications, wet mops all washable floors daily including kitchen & bathrooms, cleans interior windows in classrooms and doors, empties recycling receptacles and places at road according to collection schedule, vacuums all area rugs and rooms with carpeting daily, sweeps and clears entrances daily, dusts, washes and sanitizes other surfaces as specified in the schedule, vacuum the sanctuary and pastoral offices weekly, clean and disinfect the pastor's bathroom weekly, Set up chairs for Sunday morning worship weekly.
  • Custodial Management
  • Expectation: The Custodian is a conscientious member of the Evergreen Heights team in caring for the overall health and safety of the congregants, children and staff. Attention to detail and working knowledge of various types of equipment and products is maintained._
  • Maintains regular and open communication with daycare directors, program team members and board members.
  • Conducts regular inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies. Places orders as necessary or requests approval.
  • Participates in special events as assigned by the Daycare Director. This could include setting up tables and/or chairs for special programs or events.
  • Schedules and arranges for additional cleaning outside the normal routines, as needed.
  • Refills paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, hand soap, and hand sanitizer in all dispensers.
  • Changes light bulbs as needed.
  • Reports the following to the daycare director or designated board member: Presence of animals, vermin or insects, Advance notice for equipment repair, Water leaks and other maintenance needs, All other health & safety hazards identified
  • 3. _Maintains compliance with various departments, ministries, and/or regulations.
  • Expectation: The custodian is required to be conscience of all health codes and regulations, including but not limited to material safety data sheets, fire and emergency safety, health and safety._
  • Assists JHSC in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by promptly reporting any existing and/or potential workplace hazards.
  • Maintains MSDS binder for accuracy and updates as required.
  • Assist in administration of first aid, as required.
  • Participate in fire drills and other emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Employee attends professional development and other relevant training opportunities when available.
  • Employee participates in annual performance reviews.
  • Working Conditions
  • Expectation: The Custodian will be required to sign off on the following working conditions. These conditions are nonnegotiable. The custodian should take the necessary precautions to maintain personal health & safety._
  • Tasks that involve possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
  • Tasks that involve possible exposure to communicable diseases.
  • This job involves standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing.
  • Ability to work odd hours and/or have a flexible schedule.
  • Wearing of personal protective equipment such as latex gloves per HNHU regulations is required.

$20.50 per hour
