What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role you will:

  • provide authoritative technical leadership and expertise to oversee the design, development, deployment and on-going sustainment/ transformation of high-profile I&IT platforms, supporting significant government business lines
- provide authoritative technical advice and leadership in P25 projects, IP design, and implementation
- provide leadership in complex/dynamic projects, that includes Two-way Radio, dispatch consoles, logging, IPVPN Networks, and 911 Telephony solutions
- provide authoritative technical advice and leadership in APCO25 (P25) Public Safety LMR Network
- lead and participate in enterprise-wide or cross-jurisdictional projects and activities


How do I qualify?:


Technical Skills:

- you have experience providing authoritative expert technical leadership to the design and development of major complex enterprise system platforms (which may extend into the broader public sector) including setting technical direction, developing technology plans and technical standards, and providing technical oversight throughout the design and development stages
- you have experience providing authoritative senior technical support to P25 Public Safety LMR Network deployment
- you have technical experience with engineering drawings and indoor and outdoor radio designs
- you have technical experience with dispatch console integration with various radio systems including Paging, Voting and steering systems
- you have technical experience with systems such as include Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Telecommunications (Telephony and Radio)


Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

- you can identify and assess the impacts of new solutions or enhancements on existing services and infrastructure for performance, sustainability and robustness in a client server environment
- you can understand, assess and develop solutions for mitigating risk, where system failure would affect high volumes of public access, and create significant negative impact on program delivery and security
- you can analyze technical quality of systems design; and ensure consistency and compliance of business solutions


Knowledge:

- you have knowledge of 911 public safety technologies, including P25 radio technologies
- you have knowledge of IPVPN Networks, Two-way Radio, dispatch consoles, logging, Computer Aided Dispatch systems, and 911 Telephony solutions
- you have knowledge of various radio systems including Paging, Voting and steering systems, microwave, satellite, subscriber radios.
- you have knowledge of service delivery management, resource management and operational planning for multiple complex systems platforms, in order to manage and optimize the full platform life cycle


Communication Skills:

- you can lead complex client, vendor and stakeholder consultations, and provide authoritative and persuasive technical advice
- you can prepare and present complex technical information and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management, clients and other stakeholders
- you can negotiate customer service agreements and resource requirements with client senior management and other IT groups


Project and Risk Management Knowledge and Skills:

  • you have knowledge of project management principles, methodology, tools and best practices, in order to lead and manage multiple complex systems design and delivery projects
- you have knowledge of risk management principles, to anticipate and understand the potential for risk in system failure/critical incidents, including development of risk management strategies and protocols to mitigate and minimize risk, and the ability to effectively lead resolution of critical incidents when they occur
