$ $40.57 per hour

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:


The Human Resource Generalist provides assistance to the Manager of Human Resources and will perform a range of HR related duties to support the organization's HR program.

The HR Generalist assists in the development and delivery of corporate-wide programs, process and initiatives and will foster a culture of employee engagement across the organization.


The HR Generalist will provide the coordination of human resources activities in the following key areas; human resources administration, recruitment and selection, health and safety, DEI, and employee/labour relations (non-union and union), and policy administration.


Other duties include recording and documenting human resources information and activities, entering employee information into the HRIS, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations and organizational policies and procedures.

Other duties will be assigned as required.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide effective and timely HR communication and administrative functions with a focus on positive employee relations
  • Coordinate fullcycle recruitment and selection including, but not limited to, job postings, communications, scheduling, interviewing, offer administration, and recruiting initiatives
  • Oversee orientation and onboarding pathways for new employees
  • Maintain and optimize organization HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) including employee record retention and the integration of orientation, onboarding, recruiting, and performance management
  • Liaise with scheduler regarding training and development offerings for staff
  • Pursue employee wellness initiatives in collaboration with frontline staff and management
  • Champion the organization's DEI commitments in all aspects of employment
  • Process LOA, RTW, and accommodation requests
  • Support the payroll administrator with benefits administration and policy understanding
  • Participate in the facilitation of H&S programs, compliance, and due diligence including being a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and providing support to managers and H&S reps as required.
  • Assist the Manager of Human Resources in labour relations, policy development, and major HR initiatives
  • Support management in disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, and performance concerns
  • Attend HR department meetings, sharing ideas for process improvement, assisting in problem solving, and supporting other team members

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • 3-5 years experience in Human Resources coordination including demonstrated success in recruitment & selection, HRIS management, and Health & Safety administration
  • B.A. in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline (similar education will be considered)
  • CHRP (or working towards it)
  • Joint Health & Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication, time management, planning and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of the Employment Standard Act 2000, Human Rights Code, Health and Safety Legislation, and all relevant Federal/Provincial Labour Laws
  • Experience working in nonprofit sector and has a passion for community based mental health and social services
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Teams and Sharepoint, and HRIS (ADP payroll/HRIS preferred)
  • Knowledge and commitment to antioppressive/antiracist philosophy
