The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus.

The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.


Position Title:
Funds and Grants Administrator


Reports to:
Associate Vice President, Funds


Supervises:
None


Employee Status:
Hourly Exempt, Appointed


Length of Term:
May - April 30 (1 year)


Hours a week: 15


Compensation:
Tier 2 - $17.00 per hour

Position Overview


Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Vice President Finance and AVP Funds in creating reports on AMS Funds
  • Maintain and update the database and information regarding fees, subsidies, grants and funds
  • Research financial aid and provide information to individuals and clubs
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the fund applicants
  • Record minutes of Funds and Grants Subcommittee meetings
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Vice President, Finance or Associate Vice President, Funds
Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Accuracy and efficiency in data entry
  • Proven track
- record of confidentiality

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience and knowledge of the AMS financial systems and procedures is an asset
  • Knowledge of issues at UBC is an asset
  • Must be a UBC student
