Your opportunity:
The University Development team advances U of T's collective efforts to achieve the ambitious revenue and engagement goals of the Defy Gravity campaign.
We accomplish this through a variety of centrally-managed fundraising programs and a collaborative approach that nurtures partnerships and delivers exceptional donor and volunteer experiences to our alumni and friends.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fostering positive relationships with prospective and existing donors
- Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
- Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
- Drafting donor acknowledgment and recognition communications
- Collecting basic developmentrelated information
- Generating reports
- Maintaining senior staff calendars
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience providing support in philanthropy and in other fundraising environments
- Experience creating donor correspondence from template nontemplate documents
- Experience preparing reports from multiple data sources
- Experience in conducting basic developmentrelated research
- Flexibility and demonstrated initiative to work in a fastpaced, ambiguous, and changing environment
- Ability to work independently, set and reorder priorities and act in an anticipatory manner with mínimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and discretion in dealing with individuals of affluence and influence
- Ability to effectively and clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with stakeholders to include students, alumni, staff, faculty, and donors
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience with fundraising database ARBOR or related database considered an asset
- Knowledge of and / or interest in the Asia-Pacific region considered an asset.
