***Bartenders are responsible for mixing and serving alcoholic beverages in accordance with Smart Choices Manitoba and hotel policies and procedures. This position represents the hotel in a friendly and professional manner and helps ensure all guests have a positive and fun experience which keeps them coming back.POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MIX AND SERVE DRINKS
- Greet customers with a friendly smile.
- Take drink orders and prepare drinks as requested by customers or servers.
- Ensure customers are having a good time by monitoring and anticipating their needs.
- Continually improve knowledge of popular and new mixed drink recipes.
MANAGE FUNDS
- Pickup and count float at the beginning of each shift.
- Receive payments from customers for drinks in the form of cash, debit or credit.
- Verify cash received is legal tender and not counterfeit.
- Enter all drink, food and merchandise sales into the POS system.
- Cash out VLT tickets.
- Cash out at end of shift and reconcile sales to payments received, and analyze variances to determine possible reasons or errors.
- Advise management of any shortages or counterfeit money.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Smart Choices certification is required please submit a copy with your resume.
- Education from a Bartending/Mixology School is an asset.
- CPR and First Aid Certification is an asset.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 1 year experience working as a bartender, preferably in a nightclub or hotel environment.
- Knowledge of the recipes and ingredients for various alcoholic beverages.
- Experience working in hospitality and dealing with difficult or intoxicated people in a patient and respectful manner.

- Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to build and maintain relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors and management.
- Excellent memory and attention to detail for ensuring customer orders are processed accurately.
- High degree of initiative, personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
- Extremely organized and able to effectively manage a heavy workload with competing demands.
- Able to focus and work with a variety of distractions in a busy, fastpaced environment.
- Able to work alone or as a team member towards a common goal of creating great customer experiences.
- Strong observation and peoplewatching skills to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
- Effective conflict resolution skills and problemsolving skills for dealing with difficult or intoxicated people.
- Able to write clear and concise messages for coworkers or management regarding issues, complaints, or incidents.
- Must be willing to continually learn and adapt to changes.
- Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
- Must be punctual with an excellent attendance history and reliable transportation.
- Must be living in Winnipeg and legally able to work in Canada.
OTHER COMMENTS
The facility is open 7 days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., including statutory holidays.
