Career Development Programming Assistant

SUMMARY:


The Career Development Programming Assistant will provide support to plan and execute employer events on campus as well as support ongoing programs, such as Huron's Mentorship Program.


Reporting to the Manager, Career Development, the Career Development Programming Assistant is responsible for external outreach including employers, alumni, industry associations, and community partners.

This role will involve recruitment of opportunities, event planning and management, as well as program administration to meet both Huron student and employers' priorities for student talent and alumni engagement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Planning and collaborative execution of Huron's major Career Development events;
  • Developing marketing materials and schedules for career development events and ensuring strong student engagement;
  • Establishing contact with new and existing employer partners for business development purposes and partnership at upcoming events;
  • Coordination and administration for Huron's Mentorship Program, including ongoing documentation and tracking of mentorship relationships and supporting related events;
  • Maintenance and updates for the Huron job and volunteer boards;
  • Database maintenance and account research related to career development business development;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience;
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in a postsecondary or educational setting;
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce or similar CRM platforms would be considered an asset;
  • Prior experience related to business development, account coordination, sales or recruitment experience would be considered an asset;
  • Previous experience engaging in event planning and management is an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required;
  • Exceptional and wellhoned client/customer service skills to represent Huron professionally in all interactions;
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.);
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fastpaced environment;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact positively and calmly with students, faculty, and the public in a variety of settings;
  • Willingness to participate fully in a team environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and use good judgement in all decisions;
  • Energetic, organized, selfmotivated, collaborative, adaptable, and flexible;
This is a full-time temporary contract position for 6 months.
