The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Secondary School Education or equivalent required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

Two (2) years O.R. experience preferred
Previous experience in handling OR equipment preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and instrumentation preferred
Must have the ability to set priorities and to plan and organize work assignments
The ability to work independently as well as with others
Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with both patients and staff
Demonstrated ability to fulfil role within Attendance Support Program parameters

Principal Duties:

Portering of patients to and from the Operating Room / PACU
Stocking of supplies for the Operating Room / PA CU
Handling of highly technical fragile equipment
Preparing O.R. theatres for Surgery and assisting with O.R. procedure starts
Will perform other related duties as required

Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
