The Morgan Arboretum is Hiring


The Arboretum is looking to hire motivated and passionate individuals who enjoy the outdoors for our Field Maintenance technician position.

The Arboretum also offers weekly educational nature tours to local camps and schools during the summer months, which maintenance workers often lead and take part in.

What is the Arboretum?


The Morgan Arboretum is a 245 hectare forest reserve, situated on the western end of the island of Montreal in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and has been part of McGill University's Macdonald Campus since 1945.

In addition to its teaching and research purposes, it is a recreational facility open to the public throughout the year.

Our trail network allows for year-round walking and running, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in season.


Maintenance Tasks:

  • Maintaining, building and repairing walking trails and building facilities
  • Branch and tree cutting
  • Landscaping and regular garden maintenance
  • Refilling and cleaning bird feeders, benches and tables
  • Utilizing heavy equipment (ie. Lawn tractors, chainsaws, weed eaters) *Training will be provided for all tools and machinery*Tour tasks:
  • Organize and lead nature based activities for kids ages 6-1
  • Teach kids about our native fauna and flora
  • Provide a hands on learning experience while maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Comfortably handle and catch small snakes, insects and amphibians for educational purposes *proper training and instructions will be provided*Skills and requirements:
  • Valid driver's license is considered an asset
  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must be capable of communicating in both French and English.
  • First aid training or equivalent certifications are considered but not required
  • Be comfortable working in a small team and problem solving with likeminded individuals.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A passion for nature and the outdoors

The available position(s):
A full time hrs/week), eight week contracts are available for the summer months, with the possibility of continuing with part-time work into the fall and winter seasons.

An office position is also available on a part time basis and the possibility of doing both outdoor work and office work is an option.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Have a valid social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

L'Arboretum propose également des visites éducatives aux camps et aux écoles de la région pendant les mois d'été, que les technicien de terrain dirigent.

Qu'est-ce que l'Arboretum ?


L'Arboretum Morgan est une réserve forestière de 245 hectares, située à l'extrémité ouest de l'île de Montréal, à Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, et fait partie du campus Macdonald de l'Université McGill depuis 1945.

En plus de ses fonctions d'enseignement et de recherche, il s'agit d'une installation récréative ouverte au public tout au long de l'année.

Notre réseau de sentiers permet la marche et la course toute l'année, ainsi que la raquette et le ski de fond en saison d'hiver.


Tâches d'entretien:

  • Entretenir, construire et réparer les sentiers de randonnée et les installations du bâtiment.
  • Coupe de branches et d'arbres
  • Aménagement paysager et entretien régulier des jardins
  • Remplissage et nettoyage des mangeoires à oiseaux, des bancs et des tables
  • Utilisation d'équipements lourds (tracteurs de pelouse, tronçonneuses, désherbeurs) *Une formation sera dispensée pour tous les outils et toutes les machines*.

Tâches liées au visites éducative:

  • Organiser et diriger des activités axées sur la nature pour des enfants
