Job Description:

AECOM is looking for a
Project Manager / Project Portfolio Manager to join its team in Ottawa, ON. This is a
full-time regular role.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Operations Manager and DOO the day-to-day operation of the business line, including project delivery performance, pricing strategies, risk management, forecasting and budgeting, and performance reporting
  • May manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).
  • Provide interpretation of monthly performance figures to support overall business line management and project portfolio performance for the Environment business line in Canada.
  • Provide support to project managers to resolve project issues and make recommendations to improve project performance
  • Direct project management staff to ensure timely, effective, and efficient performance of project managers' responsibilities
  • Identify and close capability gaps among project management staff, providing valuable team management and talent development support to foster career growth and required skills of project managers; may include conducting inperson or Webex training sessions with project managers.
  • In coordination with business line leadership, provide guidance in assigning projects and pursuit efforts to project managers
  • In partnership with department leaders, evaluate individual performance of project managers within the business line
  • Evaluate project management compliance with policies and procedures and PM requirements including MAP
  • Assist in developing and reviewing proposal pricing to support business line objectives and individual bid pricing strategies.
  • Review proposal and project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Promote risk management practice within the project management function and develop PM risk competencies, including a strong contractual understanding among project managers of how AECOM manages risk and contingencies
  • Conduct project reviews with project managers in accordance with AECOM global guidelines. Utilize reviews to monitor projectlevel performance, financial performance, client satisfaction, team, budget, schedule, risk, and quality management
  • Lead project management processes, including timely and accurate Estimate at Completion submittals
  • Support project managers and project team members with invoicing and cash collection strategy. Review unbilled/accounts receivable portfolios and make recommendations for improved performance.
  • Drive consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM PM requirements
  • Evaluate and drive AECOM Delivery Excellence practices

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


  • A Bachelors degree in a relavent discipline including Civil, Environmental, Project Management, or comparable technical, business, or professional degree/diploma.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience managing projects, including the development of scope, schedule, and budget, and the subsequent monitoring of cost and schedule.
  • Involved in consulting or engineering projects in past experience.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.
  • Business development skills and experience such as client service and proposal preparation.
  • Understanding of scheduling concepts and earned value management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present to an internal audience and facilitate workshops.
  • Change enabler with an ability to promote best practice and coach & mentor staff
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Bilingual French and English.
