Reporting to the Faculty Administrator, Business Administration, and working on the project team for the CIPCE project, the Technical Analyst position plays a vital role in meeting the information technology needs of the Faculty of Business Administration.

Its primary objective is to deliver timely, reliable, and top-notch technical expertise to support faculty members, the Faculty as a whole, staff, and students.


This position will:

  • Provide timely, reliable, and highquality technical expertise to support the information technology needs of the Faculty of Business Administration, including faculty members, staff, and students.
  • Support the design and delivery of virtual, online, and inperson courses, ensuring their timely and successful execution.
  • Oversee technical support provided by student employees, ensuring their effectiveness and adherence to standards.
  • Support the use of Proctortrack to maintain academic integrity during examinations and assessments.
  • Provide technical support for Facultyrelated events and manage the Faculty's computer lab and technology classrooms.
  • Set up and maintain faculty and staff computers, ensuring their optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot computer systems, printers/photocopiers, and peripherals, and make recommendations for repairs, purchases, and maintenance.
  • Develop and update manuals and informational materials for students, staff, and instructors.
  • Collaborate with classroom instructors to develop lab programs, materials, and courseware.
  • Conduct lab introductions for new Teaching Assistants and provide assistance to faculty members, staff, and students in utilizing lab facilities and specialized software.
  • Maintain and update the Faculty's website, including various web pages for affiliated schools and student groups.
  • Provide guidance and best practices for layout, design, and setup of UR Courses to faculty and sessional instructors.
  • Offer individual consultation to resolve technical issues with remote and online courses and provide best practices for class delivery.
  • Deliver training on equipment and technology tools for faculty members and students on UR Courses and Proctortrack.
  • Collaborate with Information Services (IS), Continuing and Career Education (CCE), Web Services, and faculty members to implement technical upgrades and initiatives.
  • Assist students and collaborate with faculty members to address courserelated issues.
  • Coordinate work assignments, tasks, and support schedules for coop students and student assistants in the Faculty, in consultation with the Faculty Administrator.
Position Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering, combined with at least two years experience in providing technical support for commonly used software, hardware and associated peripherals
  • Ability to provide timely and reliable technical support for commonly used software, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving technology hardware and software issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and updating websites.
  • Ability to create and maintain manuals and other information sources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to remain calm and provide clear and timely communication during highstress technology problems.
  • Sound judgment to objectively evaluate situations, calculate risks, and make informed decisions.
  • Interest and ability to research technology best practices to make recommendations for implementation.
  • High level of organization and time management skills to handle highpressure situations, manage course design and delivery, oversee student assistants, and coordinate hardware and software maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and implement new technologies effectively and provide technology training to users.
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of service to ensure the educational success of faculty, instructors, and students.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and other university departments.
  • Ability to evaluate a situation or problem objectively, with a clear head, and make informed decisions.
  • Skill in collaborating with various stakeholders, including Information Services, Continuing and Career Education, Web Services, vendors, faculty members, and students, to implement technical upgrades and initiatives.
