Administrative Full-time Replacement Position


The Manager of Campus Stores & Ecommerce is responsible for achieving assigned and developed goals and objectives through the effective management of Conestoga College's Campus Store retail on-campus and online stores.

The Campus Store Manager will lead and provide direction on the development of a College-wide model for the acquisition, deployment, and support of retail products that meet established College and department goals.

Managing multiple retail campus locations and multiple product categories and, while optimizing selling space, inventory, sales mix, order completion, and service delivery.


It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with 3 to 4 days on-site, and 1 to 2 days remote.

Please note that on-site work five days per week will be required during peak work periods.


Responsibilities:


Store Operations & Customer Service

  • Delivers excellence in customer service through demonstration including prompt and reliable service standards and communication with all customer groups such as students, student groups, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors. Develop, collaborate, demonstrate, and lead the Campus Store team to establish and sustain high customer service standards.
  • Develops, researches, and identifies sales, collaboration, usage, and promotional opportunities pursuing revenuegenerating opportunities across all campuses for all areas of responsibility
  • Plans, selects, and purchases General Merchandise (GM) products for resale in all Conestoga Campus Store oncampus and online storefronts
  • Develops an intimate knowledge of all customer needs and coordinated with merchandise specialist(s) to develop an annual purchasing plan, including category management and development with key stakeholders.
  • Promotes Conestoga College branding, including colours, logos, and trademarks, and follows the established brand standards when creating or when consulted in product design
  • Reviews existing inventory to ensure products remain completive in the marketplace, maintain a consistent inventory turn and remain current with emerging products, styles, trends, and needs of the customer base
  • Establishes and manages vendor relationships at the store to exceed customer expectations with products and service offerings

Team Management & Human Resources

  • Provides leadership, support, and direction to staff and student employees to support an environment of growth, collaboration, productivity, and high performance
  • Ensures Human Resource activities (e.g. recruitment, interviewing, payroll) are followed utilizing established processes, including attendance management, performance management administration, and training requirements; complies with Collective Agreements and Administrative Terms & Conditions of Employment

Operational & Financial Management

  • Ensures effective and efficient allocation of fiscal, human, and physical resources within the portfolio including monitoring, analyzing, reviewing, and optimizing Retail/Campus Store's financial performance
  • Monitors profit margins, cost of goods sold, expenses, inventory turn and other relevant benchmarking metrics, and reports performance to the Director of Ancillary Services
  • Develops, coordinates, monitors, and updates plans for effective implementation of all facets of annual Ancillary Marketing, Communication, and Operational plans
  • Prepares and updates annual budget and operational plans, including goal setting, as well as projections of costs and yearend contribution to College overhead
  • Work with Director to manage license agreements with approved external apparel and merchandise vendors producing Conestoga College logos, colours, and trademarks
  • Maintains a security of retail goods in store and storage areas in accordance with loss prevention policies and procedures

Planning & Projects

  • Works with Director, to develop and implement a short and longterm Strategic plan for general merchandise products, aligned with the goals of Retail Service and the mission of Conestoga College
  • Works with the Director of Marketing, Director of Ancillary Services to develop overarching product development and marketing plans for branded merchandise and insignia product categories, to levitate the Conestoga College branding

Qualifications:

  • Threeyear Diploma/Degree is required; Preference for a Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Retail Management or Marketing
