About the role:


Our Corporate Services department is expanding, and we are looking to hire a Facility Repair and Maintenance Technician to support our Ontario GoRight facilities.

The position will be hands-on and responsible for the general repair and maintenance of our facilities as well as improving the condition of facility infrastructure and ensuring safe and well-functioning buildings and spaces.


Day Shift:
Monday to Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Responsibilities:


  • Perform repairs and minor renovations including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and maintenance, and general labour duties such as painting, changing locks, moving of items, moving and storing office furniture, etc. as required.
  • Maintenance of warehouse systems and structures (e.g., overhead doors).
  • In winter, assist snow removal contractor as required, utilize snow blower and trucks with blades to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and clear parking areas where needed.
  • Supporting the annual landscaping contractor, assisting with cleaning, and clearing landscaping as required.
  • Maintain building inspection schedules and 3rd party maintenance and service contracts in Company software, ensuring HVAC and other inspections are performed as per schedule.
  • Respond promptly to facilities issues identified by management and staff, and repair with professional workmanship, resulting in a professional facility appearance, including keeping washrooms stocked and tidy.
  • Plan and coordinate installations of equipment and refurbishment tasks and projects
  • Oversee 3rd party contractors as applicable, including HVAC, renovation, and other projects.
  • Maintain overall facility appearance and utilities to meet health and safety standards, assisting with general clean up and tidiness of the shop and parts floor locations, lunchrooms, change rooms, and organization in line with corporate 5S Operating System and standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations, make recommendations on same.
  • Assist with annual facility management budgets and make recommendations to maintain facility appearance and lower costs.
  • Coordinate items storage on facility.
  • Coordinate activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in repair and maintenance of facilities or relevant position.
  • Skilled in repairing and renovating facilities, such as roll up doors, minor HVAC repairs, dry walling, painting, sound experience and knowledge of building interior repairs and maintenance, furniture and office installation, configuration changes.
  • Wellversed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to work independently and as part of a crossfunctional team across sites.
  • Professional demeanor, kind, courteous, prompt, and reliable.
  • Excellent time management skills with a sense of urgency to get things done promptly.
  • Skilled trades designation in HVAC and facility management or relevant field.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFM
  • Certified Facility Manager) will be an advantage.
  • Occasional weekend and afterhours work are required.
  • Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including heat, humidity, and cold, inside, and outside facility, in all seasons.
